Global Village Finds

Office lipsticks in shades 12, 16, & 22 |
I also got dress slips from the Saudi village. They look like something my grandmother would wear, but I think they're perfect for sheer dresses/jalabeyas. Sorry but no pictures!
I love global village foods. Shrimps from Papa Junior (Thai village), traditional ice cream & belela balbalooki (Syrian village), and karak - few of my must-haves every time I visit.
I hope I would find the time to go again sometime soon!

When I grow up...
I want to be Lily Van Der Woodsen Bass Humphrey!
Lily has always been my favorite character on Gossip Girl. Don't get me wrong I love Blair, Serena, Chuck et al, as much as anyone else would. But I've noticed that many girls idolize Blair. I believe all the aspire to is to be spoiled with a matching wardrobe.
While they want to be more like Blair, I want to be more like Lily. She is poised, polished, and smart.
Here's what makes Lily so great:
- She's had a number of divorces, the father of her children abandoned her, and her husband died (Bart Bass). She held her own and in the end she got together with the love of her life, Rufus.
- She chose Bart over Rufus in season one so her children would have a proper family and home.
- She is mother to Serena Van Der Woodsen. I think we all can agree that Serena is quite a handful.
- She adopted Chuck. And here's to thinking no one could ever love him (except for Blair).
- At one point, Lily ran Bass Industries - a multi-million dollar business.
- She was on house arrest, and dealt with it gracefully.
She did ALL that whilst looking her very best. Did I mention she owns an impressive collection of handbags?

I'M LOVING: Lauren Conrad
It looks like those rumors of a new reality show starring Lauren Conrad aren't going to happen anytime soon. Meanwhile, Lauren has been working on two new projects! I'm loving all of them.
The Beauty Department is blog/website Lauren co-writes with two other women. The website is updated daily with beauty tips, how-tos, and musings. It's really fun and the tutorials are very helpful, like how to get that winged eyeliner Lauren is famous for (here).

HOW TO: Color Blocking
![]() |
Gucci |
I kind of like it and then I kind of don't. So, I figured out the best way I think color blocking should be done.
1- Color blocking the same color in different shades and tones is pretty.

2- Another pretty but safe way is to color block bright colors with neutrals.

Jennifer Love Hewitt |
3- Color block colors of the same tone. Muted colors with muted colors, dark shades with dark shades, and so on...
